Boston Legacy FC, the newest team to join the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), will make its debut in 2026 at Gillette Stadium, instead of White Stadium in Franklin Park, due to construction delays.

Why Gillette Stadium?

Although White Stadium is planned as the permanent home of Boston Legacy FC, it is not expected to be completed until 2027 due to construction setbacks, including a lawsuit alleging the city is attempting to privatize a public park on protected land.

Meanwhile, the team will play at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, which is also home to the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution. This stadium meets all NWSL requirements for field specifications, seating capacity, and broadcast infrastructure, making it an ideal temporary home. It will undoubtedly offer a high-level experience for a new team looking to establish itself in the Boston sports world.

What's next for Boston Legacy FC?

Despite the temporary change, the team remains steadfast in its commitment to White Stadium as its permanent home. They have already signed a 10-year lease with the City of Boston. Once the renovation is complete, the stadium will not only be the home of the professional team, but also a venue for Boston Public Schools athletics and community events.

As the team prepares for its inaugural season, exciting developments are on the horizon. On June 7, Boston Legacy FC will unveil its official crest at an event on Boston Common, marking an important step in building its identity. The name of the head coach and the location of the training facility are also expected to be announced soon.
