The actor Carlos Villagrán, known worldwide for playing Kiko in The Chavo del 8, sparked controversy this weekend after publicly supporting the boos Florinda Meza received during a performance of her circus. Villagrán not only celebrated the audience's reaction, but also made a comment that has sparked strong reactions on social media.

“Thanks for that boo! I hope it reaches the dirty old woman,” Villagrán told the audience, using the nickname his character used to refer to Mrs. Florinda in the series.

The reaction came after videos circulated where Meza, widow of Roberto Gómez Bolaños (Chespirito), was rejected by the audience at a recent event. Villagrán, who has had a tense relationship with Meza for decades, didn't hide his satisfaction.

Old unresolved rivalry
