Adidas unveiled the Trionda as the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in June-July in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The name comes from the combination of "tri-” (the three host countries) and “onda” — in Spanish/Portuguese — evoking unity and movement.

Design and symbolism

The color palette includes red (Canada), green (Mexico), and blue (United States), along with a white base and gold details that allude to the trophy.

It incorporates iconography from each host: maple leaves for Canada, the Mexican eagle, stars for the U.S.

A graphic element in the shape of a triangle recalls the union of the three countries.

Technology and innovation

It has only four panels, much less than the 20 of the 2022 World Cup ball (Al Rihla), a structure that promises greater stability in flight.

It features deep seams that aid flight control, especially in windy or wet conditions. It features embossed icons that improve grip on wet or damp surfaces. It also features connected ball technology (connected ball): motion sensors (500 Hz chip) that will transmit data to the VAR system to assist in refereeing decisions.

He Trionda joins a long list of iconic World Cup balls. In 2022, in Qatar, the official match ball was the Al Rihla, which means “the journey” in Arabic and was inspired by the country’s culture and architecture, with a 20-panel design and tracking technology.

In 2014, in Brazil, the Brazuca, one of the most remembered for its colorful design inspired by typical Brazilian bracelets and its six-panel structure that offered great stability.

Four years earlier, in South Africa 2010, the protagonist was the Jabulani, a controversial eight-panel ball that received criticism for its unpredictable aerial behavior. Much earlier, in Mexico 1970, the historic Telstar, Adidas' first World Cup ball, with its 32-panel black and white design that became a symbol of global football.
