Taylor Swift, one of the most internationally recognized singers, has announced her new album, "The Life of a Showgirl." This announcement ends a 555-day drought of new content, since Swift released her last album, "The Dead Poet's Department."

Yesterday, Taylor Swift's partner, Travis Kelce, announced that Swift will appear on the next episode of his podcast, "New Heights," which Kelce hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. "New Heights" posted on his social networks a preview of the episode premiering Wednesday the 13th. In this preview, Swift announced the title of her new album:

This ad was posted at 12:12 a.m. on August 12th and is about Taylor Swift's twelfth album. Her fans adore the singer for her insistence on these kinds of tracks, which go beyond the lyrics.

A New Era for Taylor Swift

The singer and her fans refer to periods in Swift's artistic career as different "eras," and this announcement marks the beginning of a new one. The album comes in a year full of triumphs for Swift, who recently managed to acquire the master recordings of her first six albums. Swift had expressed disappointment that these recordings belonged to Scooter Braum, who acquired them from the studios that originally released them.

In the music industry, the owner of the master recordings determines the distribution of the songs. Although the artist continues to earn royalties for the use of their music, they have no say in how it is distributed. In March, Swift successfully reclaimed ownership of her artwork, offering hope to the thousands of other artists consistently abused by the music industry:

“To say this is the fulfillment of my biggest dream is, in reality, an understatement. I can't thank you enough for helping me reconnect with this art form to which I've dedicated my life, but which until now I'd never possessed. I almost stopped believing this could happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangling in front of me and always having it snatched away. But all that is in the past now.”

Taylor Swift fans, the notorious "Swifties," will surely discover even more clues and secret symbols that reveal more details about this album. If you're not in the mood to play detective, tune in to the Kelces' "New Heights" podcast tomorrow for the official announcement of "The Life of a Showgirl."
