Roblox, the popular online gaming platform with millions of underage users, is facing multiple lawsuits in the United States. Authorities such as the Louisiana attorney general accuse the company of failing to adequately protect children from predators, despite having age verification systems and parental controls.

Roblox CEO and co-founder David Baszucki is facing mounting pressure from users and organizations following multiple allegations of child protection failures. A petition launched on August 9, 2025, has garnered over 100,000 signatures, demanding his resignation for alleged negligence in child safety.

Recently, a great deal of controversy arose when his own account was suspended. The situation spread throughout the community as a potential internal "civil war." Although there are no official signs of dismissal or resignation so far, public and media pressure is seriously calling into question his leadership.

International concern grows

Reports point to an alarming increase in cases of exploitation linked to Roblox: from 675 in 2019 to more than 24,000 in 2024. The issue has sparked debate in several countries; even Qatar banned the app after reports of abuse, and in the US, calls for greater restrictions are growing.

Roblox's response

In an attempt to regain trust, Roblox announced more than 40 security improvements, including content filters, experience ratings, blocking private messages for children under 13, and new parental controls that allow users to limit play time and friendships.

Despite the progress, experts warn that the measures are too late and that the magnitude of cases requires greater oversight. Roblox remains a creative and social space for millions of children, but the challenge now is ensuring it's also a safe space.
