James Rodriguez enjoys his break in Boston, Massachusetts

After completing his participation with the Colombian national team in the recent doubleheader of World Cup Qualifiers, James Rodríguez took advantage of his free time to make a special visit to the United States.

The Club León midfielder from Mexico is in Boston, where he has participated in promotional events and institutional activities. James shared images of his visit to the headquarters of the Boston Celtics, the historic NBA team, on social media. The Colombian, a well-known basketball fan, posed smilingly with a team jersey in his hands.

One of the highlights of his stay was his visit to the office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey. There, James received recognition for his athletic career and positive influence on sports. During the meeting, the governor posed in the white Colombian national team jersey with the number 10 on the back, a symbol of the Cucuteño soccer player. James also showcased his skill with a few touches in the government office and signed a ball as a souvenir of the meeting.

“A different kind of player took over the governor's office today… The countdown to the World Cup has begun, and James Rodriguez and New Balance are using it to get more kids involved and living active, healthy lives,” the governor wrote on social media alongside photos from the event.

During his stay in Boston, James also attended a Major League Baseball game as a spectator. baseball and was seen in a box, wearing a personalized jersey with the number 10.

James will miss the Copa Morelos

In Mexico, Club León began its preseason on June 9 in Guanajuato and is currently continuing training in Cancún. The team will compete in the Copa Morelos starting on June 19, facing Cruz Azul and then the winner or loser of Atlante against Chivas, a tournament in which James Rodríguez will not be present.

Coach Eduardo Berizzo confirmed that the Colombian midfielder will join the squad on June 24 to begin his preparations for the 2025 Apertura tournament.

Last season, Rodríguez played 17 matches for León, scoring two goals and providing six assists. With the Colombian national team, however, his performance in the recent FIFA World Cup raised questions, especially in the 0-0 draws against Peru in Barranquilla and 1-1 draws against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
