A shooting rocked the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas on Wednesday morning. The attack left at least two people dead and one injured, while the suspected shooter was found dead with a self-inflicted wound.

The incident began around 6:40 a.m. when gunfire from a nearby building struck the ICE facility located at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway, off Interstate 35. Initial investigations indicate the gunman fired a long-range weapon from a high vantage point before taking his own life on the roof of the same building.

According to official reports, the fatalities were two detainees in ICE custody, and a third person was injured. No agent was reportedly hit by the gunfire. Federal and local authorities secured the area while the building was partially evacuated.

DHS sees the Dallas attack as part of a troubling pattern of violence.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem condemned the attack, calling it yet another example of the "unprecedented violence" against immigration enforcement agencies in the country. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said they are still working to confirm the identities of the victims and clarify how the shooting unfolded. Vice President JD Vance also spoke out, calling for an end to attacks on immigration agents and facilities.

This incident occurs amid heightened tensions surrounding U.S. immigration policy, with Texas as one of the epicenters of the debate. The attack raises questions about security at federal facilities and fuels discussions about the risks faced by workers and detainees in immigration centers.
