This weekend arrives in Boston packed with festive events. As temperatures drop, the days of celebration in the metropolitan area feel like a closing ritual for the season, filled with flavors, art, and music.
After kicking off the week with Labor Day, the official end of summer recess, with colleges and universities resuming classes, the weekend celebrations begin: from salsa on the Boston Common, street food in the North End, and rhythms by the waterfront, to art-filled urban views.
UnCommon: Dance Boston! Salsa Night
In collaboration with community curator Ágora Cultural Architects, Boston's premier Latino cultural presentation organization, and DJ Hernán Choque of the renowned studio Salsa y Control, they will present a live performance by the salsa band Son Mass and offer free salsa dance classes in the community.

San Gennaro Festival – Italian Celebration in the North End
This weekend, the patron saint of Naples, Italy, is commemorated at the San Gennaro Festival in Boston's North End neighborhood, better known as "Little Italy." The city's oldest residential neighborhood will celebrate a street feast with more than 50 restaurants and bakeries, a vibrant parade, and live entertainment.

Boston Arts Festival – Outdoor Art and Music
The Boston Arts Festival is Boston's only fine arts and live music festival exclusively celebrating the area's talent. Affectionately known as "ähts,” miming a Boston accent as he pronounces the word “art.” More than 70 local artists present free visual arts, crafts, and musical performances along the Waterfront.

Show at Spectacle Island with AfroDesiaCity
Boston Harbor Now and AfroDesiaCity present a cruise and a relaxing evening at Spectacle Island, a space organized by and for communities of color. The public will enjoy games, food, drinks, and live music.
The tickets are free and include a round-trip ferry ride to Spectacle Island, live arts and musical performances, stunning sunset views over the Boston skyline, after-hours access to the Island, and food for purchase from the food truck. ZaZ either Diddy Burger.
Date and time: Sunday, September 7 – 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM

*Instructions: Guests must arrive at Long Wharf North before 2:00 PM to board the ferry to Spectacle Island. The return ferry will depart Spectacle Island at 7:30 PM, with a scheduled return to Boston at 8:00 PM.
The culmination of this season comes to a close and is experienced as a ritual: music, festivals, arts, and waterfront views. There's no better way for the walking city to begin a new season.
