The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) has launched a new call for entries for its signature "Against the Tide" event, a sports and family event aimed at raising funds for environmental education and breast cancer prevention programs.

This year, the event was held in person on June 14 at Hopkinton State Park, and now, on June 21, it will be held at Nickerson State Park, located in the picturesque Cape Cod region. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual event will also be available on June 21.

The event includes a variety of activities, including USATF-certified 5K and 10K runs, a USMS-sanctioned 1-mile swim, 1/2-mile recreational swims, and a 3-mile fitness walk. It's a day designed for people of all ages and ability levels.

With a registration fee of $40 per participant per event, “Against the Tide” is more than just a sporting activity. It represents a key component of MBCC’s mission: to eliminate toxic, cancer-causing chemicals from our everyday environments.

Thanks to this community effort, MBCC funds free programs such as Let's Talk Prevention: Reducing Toxic Exposures, a series of virtual seminars, and its youth initiative Let's Talk Prevention: Actions You Can Take, which seeks to educate new generations about environmental health.

“Every stroke, every mile, is one step closer to a community free of breast cancer,” the organization stated on its official website.
