What's at stake
The Emmys represent one of the most prestigious television awards in the U.S., recognizing both artistic and technical achievements. This year's new rules seek to improve the fairness of nominations, prevent unfair duplication (for example, the same character competing in different categories with an advantage), and give greater visibility to outstanding individual episodes.
