Celebrate Patriots' Day in Boston It's a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of the American Revolution while enjoying vibrant free events. This year, Massachusetts commemorates the 250th anniversary of the first battles of the Revolutionary War with a weekend filled with tradition and entertainment.

Lexington: Recreations and Air Shows

Lexington, scene of the Battle of Lexington, proudly celebrates the April 17-22. Visitors can enjoy reenactments of Paul Revere's ride and the battle, as well as a parade featuring military bands and U.S. Army units. A highlight is the rededication of Battle Green, where the Army's Golden Knights paratroopers will perform an aerial show that promises to captivate everyone.

Paul Revere's Midnight Ride

On April 18, Boston and Charlestown will reenact Paul Revere's legendary Midnight Ride. Costumed actors will recreate the journey on foot, by boat, and on horseback at 8:00 p.m. In advance, the USS Constitution Museum will host an open house and paper lantern-making workshop, as will Old North Church and Paul Revere's North End home, preparing for the reenactment of the night ride. There will be theatrical performances, fife and drum music, and a lot more.

Concord: Street Festivals and Museums

Concord, home of the Battle of Concord and the “shot heard round the world,” celebrates April 19 with a sunrise salute on the Old North Bridge, followed by a morning parade. Later, the Concord250 is hosting a street party with more than 20 food trucks. The Concord Museum will offer free admission, and Minute Man National Park will feature reenactments of 1775 military tactics along Battle Road. The day will culminate with a drone show at dusk.

The Boston Marathon and More

The most anticipated event arrives on April 21 with the Boston Marathon, one of the six major marathons in the world. Thousands of athletes will run the 26 miles from Hopkinton to Boylston Street, facing challenges like Heartbreak Hill, a hill that tests exhausted runners. Cheer on the participants, many of whom run for causes charitable, with a bell in hand.

That same day, the Red Sox will play their traditional Patriots' Day game at Fenway Park against the Chicago White Sox, with the first pitch at 11:10 a.m. Fans will be able to see the first runners pass through Kenmore before entering the stadium, perhaps sporting City Connect uniforms.

Celebrating Patriots' Day in Boston is more than a historical tribute; it's an experience that connects the past with the present, reminding us of why the United States was born.
