Details of the incident

Gille used a 3.5-inch folding knife to injure shoppers ranging in age from 29 to 84, including a store employee. Witnesses say police arrested him in less than three minutes thanks to the immediate intervention of customers, including an armed former Marine, identified as Derrick Perry, who confronted him before authorities arrived.

Status of Walmart victims

According to Munson Medical Center, six people were previously in critical condition and five in serious condition. Seven subsequently improved to "fair" condition, and four remained in serious condition. No victims are in life-threatening condition since early Sunday morning.

The family of one of the victims reported to local media that the patient suffered injuries to his chest, ribs, and lungs and is recovering well.

Legal actions

Gille will face terrorism charges and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder., as the attack appears to be designed to sow fear in the community, according to local authorities

It is believed that he acted alone and no clear motive has been determined.
