The next dSunday, September 21, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona—home of the Arizona Cardinals—will host the public funeral of Charlie Kirk, conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, who was recently murdered in Utah.
The service, titled “Building a Legacy, Remembering Charlie Kirk”, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with doors opening at 8 a.m. Thousands are expected to attend what is shaping up to be one of the largest farewells for a right-wing political and media leader in the United States.
The presence of Donald Trump
President Donald Trump confirmed his attendance and called Kirk's death a "heinous murder." His bond with the young activist was close: Kirk was one of the most influential voices in the conservative youth movement that supported his presidential campaigns.
Trump also ordered all official flags to be flown at half-staff until Sunday as a sign of mourning, and announced that he will posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.
A political and personal tribute to Charlie Kirk
Along with Trump, Republican leaders such as JD Vance and Marco Rubio are also expected to attend, as well as figures close to Kirk's movement. The funeral is intended not only as a religious and community event, but also as a political tribute to a figure who shaped the course of the American right in the last decade.
