The prominent actor Hugh Laurie, known for House, will play the venerable Albus Dumbledore, stating that he is honored to “have received the keys from Dumbledore” and mindful of the legacy of previous performers such as Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Jude Law, as well as iconic storytellers such as Jim Dale and Sir Stephen Fry.
Along with Hugh Laurie, other stellar actors participating in this production:
Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Severus Snape, Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall and Cush Jumbo serves as the main narrator.
For the young main characters, the cast changes midway through the series:
- The first three volumes feature Frankie Treadaway as Harry, Max Lester as Ron, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione (who also plays Hermione in the upcoming HBO series).
- From the fourth book to the seventh, Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan and Nina Barker-Francis will take on those roles respectively.
The launch will begin with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on November 4, 2025, followed by Chamber of Secrets on December 16, and will continue month by month until culminating with Deathly Hallows May 12, 2026
These new editions feature Dolby Atmos sound design, original music, and true-to-life sound capture, promising a deeply immersive listening experience for young and old fans alike.
The audiobook production represents a groundbreaking audio reimagining of the Harry Potter universe, featuring a star-studded cast and advanced sound technology that promises to revive the magic of the books for a new audience.
